Arpico Recognises its Star Performers :

Richard Peiris and Company (Arpico) recently staged its annual sales conference and awards ceremony for sales & marketing teams and Distributors in its local manufacturing and distribution sector. Coming on the heels of another successful year for the sector, this glittering event honoured the Company’s stars and applauded their accomplishments.

While showcasing the Company’s best and brightest, the occasion was also an opportunity to discuss future plans, lighting the way to an even brighter future for the Company and the nation. Mr. Pravir Samarasinghe, Group COO, Arpico, Mr. Sunil Liyanage, Managing Director, Local Manufacturing and Distribution sector, and Mr. Shantha Kularatne, Director, Distribution addressed the gathering and shared the Company’s strategies for continued success.

Presided over by Chief Guest, Dr. Sena Yaddehige, the Chairman, CEO, and Managing Director of Arpico, the annual event recognized the tireless efforts of the Company’s Distributors, Sales Team members and other supporting companies from all over the island, including the North and East. Gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded to the best distributors and sales representatives.

Mr. Ravindra Jayasena, Mr. T. Suresh, and Mr. Nayana Fernando were recognized as the Best Sales Achievers in the Furniture, Combined, and Hardware sectors, respectively. Mr. George Wijesinghe, Managing Director of George Wijesinghe Durable Distributors (Pvt) Ltd., Nikaweratiya, Mr. S.J. Sunil Shantha, Proprietor of ASL Distributors, Katuneriya, and Mr. S. Sivarajah, Proprietor of Vinayagas Trading Complex, Vauniya, were chosen as the Best Distributors in the Furniture, Hardware, and Combined sectors, respectively. The award for Best Area Sales Manager in 2009/2010 was given to Mr. Chinthaka Ratnayake.

Accolades were bestowed upon these star performers on the basis of various criteria, including sales achievements, product display and market share service quality, and more. The Company also gave away more than 40 roundtrip tours to Singapore, rewarding those who did their best to advance Arpico’s renowned standards of quality and excellence.

The Company’s manufacturing and distribution sector is a key component of the Group’s business. With factories in Colombo, Mattegoda, Kandy, Koggala, and Dambulla, Arpico’s manufacturing arm produces a dizzying array of world-class products, including mattresses, water tanks, water pumps, rigifoam, rubber and furniture. All products bearing the Arpico brand name, which is synonymous with superior quality and value, have become market leaders in their respective market segments.

Adhering to the most stringent quality standards, subsidiary companies such as Arpico Flexifoam and Plastishells are proud to have won ISO 9001 and SLS certifications, testaments to each company’s discipline and the excellence of their processes. In many cases, these accomplishments are unrivalled in the company’s respective industry; for example, Arpico Plastishells is the only water tank manufacturer to have earned this world-renowned industry yardstick.

Arpico’s distribution sector is also amongst Sri Lanka’s best and has more than 5,000 hardware and furniture dealers nationwide. With one of the largest distribution networks in the island, including a large centralized warehouse, ultra-modern logistics, and all-island coverage, the distribution sector is involved in the distribution of all Arpico products. Tasked with ensuring that Arpico’s envied brand presence extends throughout the country and to provide excellent products at an affordable price, the sector works closely with Arpico’s manufacturing arm to give customers the very best.

As Arpico moves from strength to strength, the Group knows that its success is due, in large part, to the accomplishments of its local manufacturing and distribution sectors. The accolades earned by its star performers at the recently concluded annual sales conference and awards ceremony prove that it’s never been in a better position to grow, while helping the country grow along with it.
